With Neil and I

Walked today with friend Neil. Starting at Portmellon, the coast path took us through Gorran Haven, above Vault Beach, and round the imposing Dodman head. We sat on the point, high above the water, hot pasty each, and eyed the curtains of rain coming in off the sea, the skies above darkening. Following the loop inland through a rain drenched Boswinger (smiling fondly at the Youth Hostel), and along the road to Gorran Church, we headed back through the woods, returning to Portmellon and a cosy car. And sunshine. Felt pleased with myself having made the effort to cover the previously ‘missed’ piece of coastline (due to dodgy leg and tight schedule) – Gorran Haven is well worth visiting: beautiful little harbour town, bustling village shop and St. Just church narrowly squeezed in between houses and winding streets. And Vault, to the south of the village, is my companion’s favourite summer picnic destination. He’s not so fond of the nudists though ..
I’ll be ready to walk to Plymouth on November 25th .. sans dog/rucksack and staying overnight in a Band B. But, finger’s crossed, still in my shorts!
