Dolphin in Fowey Harbour!

Dolphin in Fowey Harbour!

Finbar is back! The Bottlenose dolphin with the tattered dorsal fin .. who loves to play alongside the Boddinick ferry and was today having fun with the life boat. I was lucky to see him from my kayak, having been on a litter pick this morning along the shore of Pont Pill, opposite Fowey. He’s quite the celebrity!

On to Larrasoana

On to Larrasoana

We enjoyed our first pilgim’s meal last night, three courses washed down with free flowing vino, all 16 of us coyly eyeing each other up around two circular tables.

St Jean to Roncesvalles – the first day

St Jean to Roncesvalles – the first day

I’m sitting in the bar at Roncesvalles with Tipperary Adrian and Navada Greg (having walked from Bordeaux, he’s already half filled his credential with stamps), aware that the snow is piling up outside the window.

Paris to St-Jean-Pied-de-Port

Paris to St-Jean-Pied-de-Port

Arrived in a frozen Paris late last night and found our way to the (cheap) hotel, booked the day before and chosen for its proximity to Gare Montparnasse. Walking the Dog – Morvah to St Ives

Walking the Dog – Morvah to St Ives

Another day walking the Cornish path with Pip, Ruth and Clare. Filling in the bit sadly missed last October when I exchanged leg power for a ride on an open topped bus – a necessary trip as a result of breaking the dog.

Summer days at Polkerris

Summer days at Polkerris

Remembering hot days spent at Polkerris beach; sitting on the sand watching kids jumping off the harbour wall at high tide. Even I had a go. Kayaks and wind surfers, hot pizzas and fresh seafood from Sams, a cool pint from the Rashleigh .. Ahhh, it’ll come round again soon!

A favorite circular walk

A favorite circular walk

A great Sunday stroll: starting from Lerryn village green, across the river (jumping the stepping stones at low tide), through farmland towards the small waterside village of St Winnow with its beautiful 15th century church perched above the water. Then looping back, along the shore, join the woodland path on the return to Lerryn and a warm welcome at the Ship Inn. A great way to spend 2 hours, with or without dogs. This time of year wear waterproof boots – the mud is glorious!
