Restormel Design Award, 2001 The kitchen and bedroom furniture have been hand-crafted from reclaimed timber, lime mortar and paint used on exposed stone walls and original slates and flooring saved where possible. Throughout the project reclamation was always a prime consideration. "The Awards Scheme seeks to promote the character, diversity and local distinctiveness of our built environment through good quality design, sustainability, use of materials and landscaping" Terry Clarke, Conservation Officer, Restormel Borough Council. And so it was in 2001, having completed the work, we were delighted to be presented with a top design award, which we took as recognition for our attention to detail during the conversion process. Moreover, it has been a real pleasure converting and furnishing our fabulous old barns - and we hope that this shines through. |
