Accessible Holiday Cottages in Cornwall
South Torfrey Cottages are situated at the end of a 200m long, private road surrounded by fields, and benefit from complete privacy and off-road parking. Having worked at a Camphill Community, we understand that peoples’ needs vary considerably. We are more than happy to discuss your particular requirements for a relaxing holiday, so please feel free to phone or email to check that our facilities are right for you.
Unlike our other cottages, Honeypin is on a single level, and has been converted throughout with accessibility in mind. It is thoughtfully furnished and designed to appeal to all our guests. It’s wide door openings and level wooden floor offers easy wheelchair manoeuvrability, plus better accessibility for visitors who may need extra space and support getting around. Both bedrooms have en-suite wet-floor showers with support rails. A fully adjustable electric bed with optional side rails is set up in the smaller bedroom, whilst in the living room there is an electric reclining easy chair. A self propelled shower chair is available, as well as a light weight collapsible wheel chair for day trips.
From the enclosed garden-patio a wide level path links Honeypin to the games room, indoor swimming pool and sauna. The pool is partly above ground allowing entry from a seated position, and hand rails around the pool side are provided for guests who need a little extra support when leaving the water. A hydraulic seat lift for assisted access in and out of the pool is on hand if required, doubling as a shower chair for use around the pool and shower area.
The swimming pool and sauna facility can be booked for 1 hour slots, for a minimum of two guests, and offers a great opportunity to exercise in stylish and private surroundings.
Gillyflower Cottage creates space for independent living for able-bodied visitors with special needs, traveling unaccompanied. Its design offers the opportunity for guests to share access to the farmhouse garden through an external door on the ground floor, and meals can be taken in the family kitchen to make for a more sociable and memorable break*. If you require a full time carer for the duration of you stay this will need to be organised independently. Positioned behind the farmhouse, Gillyflower Cottage enjoys a greater degree of privacy from the other cottages, and its location has been particularly appreciated by autistic visitors. Similarly, Mulberry and Honeypin are both detached dwellings, and both have direct access to the swimming pool and games room. However, with an independent carer any of the cottages are suitable to rent for able-bodied guests with special needs.
